Distributing Power Through Collaborative Budgeting

Nov 5, 2026 • 12:30 pm – 3:30 pm
Collaboration, Equity & Inclusion, Operations & Financial Management • Virtual Event

Offered by CompassPoint, explore ways to strengthen a culture of collective budgeting at our organizations, helping to shape a yearly practice of distributed organizational resource planning (aka “a budget”). You will gain clarity on your role in leading and stewarding the process and identify the roles other parties in the organization have to play in yearly financial planning. With the support of other participants, you will explore some of the challenges you may face along the way and identify how to evolve your process incrementally, molding the budget process over time to meet the culture and needs of your organization.

This space is for you if you are...

  • Someone with any level of experience leading finance & budget decisions in your organization seeking to improve or deepen engagement across staff (finance directors, EDs, program directors, etc.)
  • A financial decision-maker in an organization with social justice values and a demonstrated commitment to shared governance and collaborative processes

In this online workshop, you will:

  • Develop a deeper understanding and practice of what "collaborative budgeting” is and what it requires
  • Deepen clarity on your role in leading and stewarding the budgeting process, and understand the roles that others will play in a collaborative process
  • Identify challenges that may arise and strengthen your skills to prepare for the most likely challenges
  • Practice an “abundance budgeting” approach that activates multiple forms of wealth (social, cultural, spiritual, financial, material, experiential, and intellectual)

This is NOT a technical workshop focused on putting together the actual budgeting tool.

Cost associated.
