Messaging: Maximizing Your Leadership Story to the Situation

Apr 23, 2026 • 10:00 am – 12:00 pm
Communications • Virtual Event

Offered by Gardner Philanthropy Consulting, the final workshop of this 3-part storytelling series will help you gain an understanding of your stories components and craft overarching, go-to stories for communicating with funders, legislators, community members, and parent leaders.

You’ll learn to:

  • Communicate why you do the work you do and your passion for it
  • Highlight your leadership through your experiences
  • Tell your story in a focused, effective, and compelling way

At the heart of everything nonprofits do — grant writing, donor conversations, newsletters, events — is the ability to clearly and compellingly share our organization’s story. It’s what opens doors and inspires people to give. And yet, it’s a skill most of us were never taught.

Join Ben Tanzer, an Emmy-award winning writer, in Words Matter, a three-part storytelling workshop series designed to help you uncover your personal and organizational “why” — and turn it into messaging that truly connects. Each session stands on its own, though together they offer a powerful, cohesive experience.

This series is for anyone involved in nonprofit work: Executive Directors, Development Staff, Program Leaders, Board Members, and Volunteers.
Wednesday & Thursday, April 22 & 23 (2-hour sessions): Interactive workshops ($59 each or $99 for both sessions)

Eligible for support through Rotary Charities Learning Fund.
