Kristin Hettich, Director of Community Development

Kristin is the Director of Community Development at Rotary Charities of Traverse City. She grew up midway between Milwaukee and Chicago on the Illinois side of the border. Her first experience with Rotary was as an exchange student to Finland during her junior year of high school, after which she pursued a Bachelor’s degree in International Studies from American University in Washington, DC. After working for several years in the nonprofit sector in Chicago doing fundraising and program management, Kristin went back to school for a Master’s degree in Forest Ecology from Michigan Technological University. She has lived in Colorado, working on mine remediation and water quality issues, and briefly in Honduras as a Peace Corps volunteer. Prior to her role at Rotary Charities, Kristin was a program officer at a private foundation in Chicago focused on a broad range of issues including arts, arts education, health, housing, the environment, domestic violence, and Maya archaeology. She enjoys spending time in nature, running, and practicing yoga.
